040 - AKA: OH GOD SPIDERS.

Some of you may remember this as a DNF. I actually have a video from my second tour to this cache about me screaming spiders, but unfortunately it’s quicktime format and too large for youtube. If I ever figure out how to make it smaller and put it online, I’ll slap it on here.
The first time I came here I poked around for a hour. I saw the cave entrance but didn’t want to believe it was there. The second time, armed with spoiler pictures, I was sure it was inside the cave. I entered with my camera rolling, and freaked out because there where spiders every freaking where. (hell, the cache hint even states you can’t be afraid of spiders). After posting on the cache log page, the owner contacted me and confirmed that the cache was inside that damn cave. I vowed to go again in the winter when the spiders were hopefully dead or dormant. I decided to go today on a whim…

First I decided to go to the post office and saw this guy. Check out the mug on top of his car. I have no idea why, but I found this to be pretty hilarious. That thing didn’t even budge. I wonder what his face looked like when he got out of his car and realized…

There it is. The seasonal waterfall. The first time I came here the waterfall was still sorta wet, but not functioning. This time everything was relatively dry, but it was raining leaves. Quite pretty actually.

Here is the view going in. My head is itching just writing this story up.

So I got up to the point where I had been before. Turns out if I had just stood up a little bit taller, I would have seen the cache. But, just standing up a little bit more was very difficult. I apparently have a big fear of spiders, and I had no idea. I started hyperventilating, and chanted “Spiders can’t hurt me, Spiders can’t hurt me” Ad nauseum. The cache was covered in cobwebs, which didn’t help. It took me about five minutes of chanting and freaking out to get the gumption to grab the damn cache. When I was ready, I grabbed it, started my chant even louder, and pretty much fell out of the cave, skidding all the way.
I was so damn happy when I got out. Phew.

They were huge. Half the size of my thumb, easily. *shudder*

You see the grin on my face? That’s a grin saying “THANK GOD I AM OUT OF THERE”
After I finished with the cache, I climbed back in, got halfway up, and just threw the thing back to where it had been. Luckily it landed perfectly, in just the same spot I had grabbed it from. Makes me wonder if the last person threw it back too…
All in all, I did it.
BUT OH GOD THE SPIDERS D:
Edit: Video uploaded! This is from my second visit to the cache.
